Per the introduction, the book consists of interviews conducted between May 2000 and January 2010. The book is divided into chapters, but it is not stated if each chapter was a separate interview or whether Weller edited multiple interviews to form the chapter. There is also no indication that these interviews were previously published. As such, the book has been entered as a single interview.

The Appendix is a 1976 interview conducted by William Plummer for the Paris Review. Per Weller's introduction to the interview, it was never published prior to this book.
