The shots of a milltown and the Chicago slums are from the archives of the Farm Security Administration in the Library of Congress, taken by Arthur Rothstein and Russell Lee. Abe Rattner photographed Henry Miller in Jacksonville, and Weeks Hall supplied the picture of his home.
