Макс Брэнд «The Mask of Ching Wo»

There are actually three versions of this story:

1. Max Brand's original version of the novel was titled «Wild Honey.» This version of the story — retitled «Sign Of The Hawk» by Jon Tuska — was published (with restored material from Brand's original typescript) in 2008 in a large print edition by Center Point Publishing of Thorndyke, Maine. Tuska padded out the book with a short story by Brand, «The Singular Horseman» (Collier's, 1936-06-27) to make it a «Western Duo.»

2. A magazine serial version of the novel (with a few editorial changes and a new title) appeared in six issues of Railroad Man's Magazine (August 1930-January 1931) under the title «The Mask Of Ching Wo».

3. An abridged version of the serial was issued in book form in 1974 in a hardcover edition by Dodd, Mead & Company under the title «The Outlaw Of Buffalo Flat». The abridged version was reprinted in paperback by Pocket Books in 1977.
