Далеко не все читатели КД читали (и прочтут когда-нибудь Блаватскую). Кроме того, а вы не допускаете простую ошибку в переводе термина именно у Блаватской?

Ведь далеко не все читатели умеют читать, так что какая разница? Тем более, когда есть обратная сторона Луны, а у Сатурна — кольцо!

Калигула Если мы хотим сохранить авторский замысел, то здесь критически важно понять, что приходит в голову носителю языка при чтении этого конкретного сочетания — лицо или сторона. Надо пытать англичан (КД же писал по-английски). Иначе уж слишком похоже на гуглоперевод.

psw , если вы это серьезно, а не троллите, то все очень просто: если в тексте встречается очевидная раскавыченная цитата, то ее следует переводить, используя наиболее распространенный (или, если вариантов несколько, наиболее точный и уместный) перевод источника цитирования. И только так. При этом стоит дать сноску: текст такого-то цитируется в переводе такого-то (хотя это делают не всегда).

Ну и следует учитывать (мне кажется) контекст и специфическую терминологию. Александр справедливо фокусирует наше внимание на эзотерических аспектах) И куда нам деться тут от Блаватской)

Иначе уж слишком похоже на гуглоперевод. всё просто, выражение "The Lord of the Dark Face" введено в английский похоже Блаватской, ни одного текста до нее мне не попалось, зато после опубликования Тайной доктрины — словосочетание "The Lord of the Dark Face" активно используется во всяких теософских и эзотерических книгах, строго с упоминанием Атлантиды, затем в конце 20-х АКД запускает его в худ.лит и после этого словосочетание бродит либо в связи с АКД, либо по прежнему с эзотерикой. Исключение https://www.pjfarmer.com/secret/fu/demon...., не разобрал худ.лит это или эзотерика.
