Одновременно он является списком номинаций на премию Локуса за 2009 год, которая присуждается читателями журнала. Приятно порадовало присутствие трех разных книг Кейдж Бейкер в трех разных номинациях. Также удивило сравнительно небольшое число книг в разделе НФ и появление здесь Стивена Кинга.

Из НФ романов, по моему мнению, наибольшие шансы у Роберта Чарльза Уилсона, Кима Стенли Робинсона, Иэна М. Бэнкса и Пола Дж. Макоули. Можно ждать сюрприза от Адама Робертса, чей роман получил очень хорошие отзывы.

Среди фэнтези романов конкуренция очень плотная. На мой взгляд, высоки шансы у Чайны Мьевиля, Терри Пратчетта (роман о футбольной команде Незримого университета), Дэна Симмонса и Роберта Холдстока (возвращение в мир Мифаго). Сюрпризом может стать роман Джеффа Вандермеера. У промежуточных книг длинных серий (например, Стросс, Абрахам) шансы традиционно невысоки.

Сложно сказать что-то определенное о детско-юношеских книгах при отсутствии в номинации Роулинг, Геймана, Пратчетта, Пуллмана и Джонс. В этой ситуации повышаются шансы Кейдж Бейкер, хотя кто его знает!

Дебютанты, как обычно, – тайна за семью печатями, хотя наличие в списке суперпопулярного Паоло Бачигалупи вносит долю определенности.

Среди авторских сборников схлестнулись тома из полных собраний рассказов побронзовевших мэтров (Андерсон, Силверберг, Старджон, Желязны), персональные сборники лучших произведений малой формы (Вулф, Муркок, МакДевитт) и текущие сборники повестей/рассказов последнего времени (Бигль, МакДональд, Стросс, Шепард). Из первой группы я отдал бы предпочтение Желязкину, из второй – Вулфу, а из третьей – МакДональду и Строссу. Кто победит в итоге – узнаем в июне.

Среди оригинальных антологий ярко выделяются две – Песни Умирающей Земли (трибьют Джеку Вэнсу) и Новая космическая опера 2 (привет издательству Азбука). Среди репринтных антологий особо выделю Тайную историю научной фантастики. Ну а среди «лучших за год» лучшим неизбежно станет Дозуа. Не раз бывало, когда оригинальные антологии опережали «лучших за год». Посмотрим, что год прошедший нам готовит…

В нехудожественном разделе глаза разбегаются! Чего тут только нет – и мемуары Джека Вэнса, и монография Майкла Суэнвика о Хоуп Мирлис, и очередной сборник эссе Урсулы Ле Гуин, и сборники рецензий Джона Клюта и Дэвида Лэнгфорда! Непредсказуемо!

Среди альбомов по искусству внимание в первую очередь привлекают альбомы Чарльза Веса и Майкла Уэйлана (с текстом Стивена Кинга), а также Алиса в Стране Чудес с иллюстрациями Родни Мэтьюза.

Теперь о малой прозе. Если о новых книгах, которые сам я не читал, я могу судить по отзывам и рецензиям, то о малой прозе такой информации обычно нет, а до ежемесячных обзоров в Локусе когда еще руки дойдут… Так что, мои комментарии о малой прозе весьма умозрительны.

Среди повестей, на мой взгяд, шансы велики у изданной отдельной книжкой повести Кейдж Бейкер, повестей Иэна МакДональда, Чарльза Стросса и Грега Игана, входящих в их новые сборники, а также у повести Джона Райта из Новой космической оперы 2.

Среди новелл сразу бросаются в глаза произведения, вошедшие в наиболее значительные антологии года -- Песни Умирающей Земли (Шепард, Силверберг) и Новая космическая опера 2 (Уоттс, Уилсон, Кессел и новая звёздочка Джастина Робсон). Хотя журнальные публикации сбрасывать со счетов никак нельзя; например, новеллу Брюса Стерлинга из Интерзоны.

Среди рассказов я вообще теряюсь. Думаю, что здесь правят бал журнальные публикации. Удивляет то, что известные авторы, именами которых пестрели чуть ли не все категории пару лет назад, представлены слабо. Например, во всем огромном списке Гейман представлен всего одним рассказом из Песен Умирающей Земли, а Суэнвик – одной нехудожественной книгой. Зато здесь раздолье новым авторам, которые, как ни крути, – будущее фантастики.

Бонус для любопытных. Прилагаю файл с номинационным списком, где все книги снабжены гиперссылками. Переносить такое количество гиперссылок -- уму непостижимо, да и не всем они нужны. Однако, ищущие обрящут.
