Бэзил Коппер (Basil Copper) — английский писатель, один из ведущих авторов хоррор-жанра.

Родился 5 февраля 1924 года в Лондоне. Работал журналистом и редактором газеты. Первый рассказ — «The Spider» — опубликован в 1964 году, тогда Копперу был 41 год. В 1965 году вышел рассказ «Camera Obscura». В 1967 году появился первый сборник рассказов автора, «Not After Nightfall», в который вошло, кроме вышеперечисленных, возможно, и самое известное произведение Коппера — «Янычары из Эмильона», а также другие рассказы.

С 1966 по 1988 гг. издавались детективные триллеры о Майке Фарадее (Mike Faraday). Серия открывалась романом «The Dark Mirror» (1966). Также Бэзил Коппер принимал участие в создании произведений о персонаже Огюста Дерлета, Соларе Понсе (Solar Pons), частном детективе (прототипом для него послужил Шерлок Холмс). Писатель выпустил несколько сборников рассказов и роман. Рассказы Бэзила Коппера не раз выходили в жанровых и тематических антологиях.

В последние годы Бэзил Коппер получил много наград. В 1979 году Американское Общество Марка Твена признало его Рыцарем за «вклад в современную беллетристику», а Praed Street Irregulars дважды отметило его вклад в серию о Соларе Понсе. Коппер был членом Ассоциации Писателей Детективов 30 лет, председательствовал в 1981-1982 гг. В начале 2008 г. была издана его биобиблиография «Basil Copper: A Life in Books» под редакцией Стивена Джонса.
